We operate from various location in UK, covering all major cities, so that we can be close to our clients. We employ quality people who are allowed to be themselves; taking responsibility for their work and their relationships with clients. JAMAL KHAN

Jamal Khan is a leading tax expert, Chartered Tax Adviser and Fellow ACCA with 24 years of experience in helping landlords, HNW clients and corporates reduce their tax liabilities. He worked for companies such as Deloitte and Sony Corporation.

Jamal provides specialist tax planning advice to high net worth individuals, landlords, corporates as well as accounting and law firms from across the UK and to non- resident clients. He is well reputed in the industry for being creative and designing out of the box tax strategies for his clients.

Jamal is an expert in tax investigations, tax litigation, negotiations and out of court settlements. He speaks at large seminars, TV shows and is a specialist panel member on many events. Jamal is a serial entrepreneur with interests in technology, software development, artificial intelligence and the real estate industry including property investments and developments.

DAVE JENNINGS

TAX DIRECTOR

Chartered Tax Adviser

Dave has over 30 years’ tax experience; 19 years with HMRC where he was a Fully Trained Senior Tax Inspector and the rest on this side of the fence including working at Top 10 accounting firms. He has used this combined experience as a Tax Investigations specialist to help clients with HMRC tax dispute resolution (including numerous Code of Practice 8 complex technical tax enquiries and Code of Practice 9 fraud investigations) and voluntary disclosures.

Dave has assisted clients with litigation through Tax Tribunals up to the Court of Appeal and those facing HMRC debt management enforcement. He has also provided expert witness reports in criminal tax evasion cases and matrimonial disputes involving complex tax issues. 

As a published author of a 900-page book on tax, Dave provides pro-active tax solutions to businesses and individuals. He is also a regular writer for the professional press and a seminar speaker.

NASIM MALIK

SENIOR PARTNER

Inspirational and results-driven professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a unique combination of business acumen, proven strategic partnership/business relationship skills and visionary leadership spanning nearly 30 years. International traveller who relishes challenges with expertise encompassing: planning, decision-making, negotiating, change / project management and communication; utilising in-depth analytical and strategic ability to facilitate operational and procedural planning.

An active member of Churchill team, previously an IFA who set up many successful Mortgages and packaging businesses in Scotland. Currently heads the Churchill Operations in Scotland and North East of England.

Other interests include managing a huge social circle, political affiliations, flying and sports.

PHILLIP WEBB

TAX INVESTIGATIONS MANAGER

Team

Phillip has been involved in the Tax industry since 1990. For 17 years he worked for HM Revenue and Customs. As a senior Tax Inspector, he carried out fraud investigations, conducted compliance enquiries and when he left HMRC was working in the Solicitor’s Office as an Advocate, conducting cases in person before the First Tier Tribunal (Tax).

Since entering private practice he has been involved in the presentation and preparation of cases before the Tax Tribunal, has handled Code of Practice 9 (COP 9) and Code of Practice 8 (COP 8) investigations on behalf of numerous clients. He has dealt with tax and VAT enquiries including (Missing Trader Fraud MTIC) and assisted in the negotiation of debt repayments. Phillip has also worked on major litigation in regard to s.994 of the Companies Act in which the prejudice the shareholder experienced in the loss of his shares, had to be valued. Phillip has also worked for overseas governments valuing the extent of local taxes that have not been collected.

Phillip is experienced in Forensic Accounts matters and investigating in valuating loss of income/ assets and valuating claims.

ROBIN ROURKE

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Team

Robin has over 30 years of experience in the intermediaries and business development sector. He is a very experienced Corporate Business Developer who uses the “Pay it Forward” method to ensure all contacts are either referred Business and/or are referred to other Professionals to enhance their connections.

He Developed business referrals and niche projects from other like-minded professional organisations who I have worked with over the years – Chartered Accountants, IFAs, Solicitors, Estate Planners and Insolvency Practitioners in the main.

Churchill Tax provides a unique platform to further his well-tested strategy of business development, intra-professional collaboration skills and customer satisfaction.

TANVEER QURESHI

TAX BARRISTER

Team

Tanveer’s practice focuses on matters involving allegations of fraud, money laundering, asset forfeiture, bribery and other misconduct by companies, directors, financial professionals and corporates entities.

Tanveer has gained experience appearing in the First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) on a variety of issues. Tanveer is also very experienced in matters involving the use of Sch 36 Finance Act 2008 powers by Revenue and Customs officers as well as issues involving HMRC’s use of Schedule 24 Finance Act 2007 penalties, Schedule 55 Finance Act 2009 and s63 Value Added Tax Act 1994 misdeclaration penalties. He gives pragmatic advice whilst ensuring that the technical aspects are not overlooked.
Some example of the types of work that he has been instructed in include:

  • AWRS and WOWGR refusal decisions;
  • Excise assessments and penalties;
  • VAT registration appeals;
  • VAT assessments and associated penalties;
  • Self-assessment penalties;
  • Top slicing relief;
  • Damages litigation in the High Court arising out of alleged Revenue officer’s negligent performance of their duties.

DANE SKIBA

SENIOR MANAGER

HM Inspector of Taxes, ATT, MSc (Hons), BEng (Hons)

Dane joined Churchill Tax Advisers in April 2021 and has extensive experience in dealing with all types of tax disputes, successfully negotiating with HMRC on behalf of clients who are facing a variety of issues with HMRC.

Dane started his career in tax with HMRC and is therefore well equipped to understand the nature of an enquiry and establish the most appropriate strategy to progress matters. Dane completed his Inspector of Taxes training at HMRC, during which time he worked in the Large Business unit dealing with a variety of complex Corporation Tax Issues. He then became a Customer Compliance Manager in the High Net Worth Unit, undertaking individual Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax enquiries. Dane was also the technical specialist for Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings.

After leaving HMRC Dane continued his career in tax disputes with Grant Thornton, assisting clients with a variety of enquiries including Code of Practice 9, National Minimum Wage, and Residence and Domicile issues. Dane also helped those clients facing financial difficulties during the pandemic by agreeing Time To Pay arrangements with HMRC’s Debt Management team.

ALAN MILNE

SENIOR TAX MANAGER

ACA, CTA, MA (Hons.) (Cantab.)

Alan has been working in the accountancy and tax professions since 1983. He has been employed mainly in private practice, providing consultancy and compliance services for clients ranging from sole traders to international companies and groups, and spent many years in the Trust and Company Service Provider sector. Recently he has worked as a Tax Specialist at a major international Private Bank.

Alan has experience across a range of taxes – Income Tax, Corporation Tax, Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT and SDLT, with a particular emphasis on international/ cross-border issues”.

SAPNA KHAN

DIRECTOR PUBLIC RELATIONS

MSc London School of Economics

She heads the economic policies of the firm. She has a sound knowledge in quantitative techniques and concentrates on economic theory, macroeconomics and econometrics.

A good control over mathematics helps her to facilitate analysis, with the primary objective of in-depth understanding and implementation of – core economic models and methods.

IMAD ILYAS

HEAD OF TAX INVESTIGATIONS

ACCA, MSc, BSc (Hons)

Imad has been involved in the Tax Industry for over 10 years. He has closed numerous complex cases with significant tax saving for his clients.

He has successfully represented & handled complex Tax Fraud Investigation, Proceeds of Crime Act enquiries, Code of Practice 8 & Code of Practice 9 enquiries. Imad has also represented clients before the Tax Tribunal and in HMRC ADR dispute resolution meeting.

Imad has also helped clients with historic disclosures of undeclared income & gains (UK & Offshore) under Let Property Campaign & Worldwide Disclosure Facility (WDF)

ASHIR MUHAMMAD

TAX DISCLOSURES SPECIALIST

ACCA Affiliate, MSc

Ash specialises in assisting clients with making disclosure of undeclared income to HMRC and negotiating the tax and penalties payable. He provides specialist advice to clients on the following:

  • Worldwide Disclosure Facility
  • Failure to Notify
  • Tax on offshore income
  • Let Property Campaign
  • UK tax on NRE accounts in India

Ash has successfully closed a large number of cases where clients had not disclosed offshore income. He is an expert in negotiating settlements with HMRC.

DILWAR HUSSAIN

SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE

Dilwar has many years of experience working in tax and accounting. He has extensive experience of looking after a large portfolio of clients and managing large teams. He has used his experience, knowledge and skills to mitigate tax liabilities for his clients and helped them to get peace of mind on their tax matters.

He has been responsible for training and growing a team of accountants and ensuring all tax returns, VAT returns and Accounts are filed in a timely manner.

Dilwar has excellent inter-personal and communication skills which have allowed him to maintain very good relationships with his team, existing clients and to onboard new clients.

BEN SPYROU

Ben has over 20 years of experience working in tax and accounting. He has extensive experience of looking after a large portfolio of clients and managing large teams. He has used his experience, knowledge and skills to mitigate tax liabilities for his clients and helped them to get peace of mind on their tax matters.

He has been responsible for training and growing a team of accountants and ensuring all tax returns, VAT returns and Accounts are filed in a timely manner.

Ben has excellent inter-personal and communication skills which have allowed him to maintain very good relationships with his team, existing clients and also to on board new clients. Ben has a strong network of contacts which has allowed him to bring new clients to the firm.

SAJ RAHMAN

MANAGER RESEARCH & IMPLEMENTATIONS

She currently looks after assessing further expansion potential, research and implementation. Her focus is on accessing particular markets in order to achieve further growth by implementing sales strategies. Her job also involves promotion and advertising aimed towards the successful provision of services to end-customers.

Other areas of responsibilities include analysing current state of business, overall industry and growth projections, Competitor developments and current business dependencies.

Min focus is on the long-term view, especially with regards to the initiatives being proposed and cost areas and the possible options for cost-savings

SAL BUTT

TAX INVESTIGATIONS MANAGER

Sal worked for HM Revenue & Customs for over 30 years as a Senior Tax Inspector before joining Churchill Tax. Sal is very experienced in handling and concluding tax and VAT investigations including Missing Trader Fraud (MTIC) investigations. Sal is also experienced in handling Code of Practice 8 (COP 8) and Code of Practice 9 (COP 9) tax fraud investigations. He has experience in reaching settlements on disputed tax liabilities and also reaching out of court settlements for his clients.

She is an experienced professional specialising in payroll, pensions and VAT returns. She works in hand to hand with the senior members of the accounts department and plays a vital role in fulfilling deadlines for returns. A very hardworking and loyal member of the Churchill family.

Marta is an experienced professional specialising in payroll, pensions and VAT returns. She play a big part in providing analytical support to the senior members of the team. Marta enjoys a very good relationship within and is much liked member of the Churchill Team.

Team

Magda is the Office Manager at Churchill Tax. She is hard working and focused on keeping good relationships with her colleagues and clients. She likes to start and finish her day with a big smile. She has a strict control on the office proceedings meaning that no details is left unattended. This helps the Churchill Team to deliver timely results thus enhancing customer satisfaction.
