Haryana: Man duped of Rs 14 lakh on pretext of being sent to America | Chandigarh News

KURUKSHETRA: The police registered a case against an identified accused under relevant sections of the Emigration Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Jhansa police station on Saturday on the complaint of Dilbagh Singh of Salpani Kalan village in Kurukshetra district.
Dilbagh alleged against a man Baljit Singh, proprietor GTK Groups, Patiala road Cheeka in Kaithal district that he duped him of Rs 14 lakh on the pretext of settling in America on a work visa.
Dilbagh stated in his complaint to the police, “I am twelfth pass and my parents are agriculturist. In March 2018, Baljit Singh had come to our Salpani Kalan village where he told my father Suba Singh that he lives in Cheeka and works to send people abroad and get them settled them on a work permit. He visited our village multiple times and lured my father into his false promises and promised that he would get me settled me in America on a work permit and it will need Rs 14 lakh for this task. Baljit assured me that he will be completing all the documentation and also provide a passport for the travel. After completing some procedure, he asked me to go to Delhi Airport on May 22, 2018, and told that one Lovepreet Singh of Karnal will also be meeting me there and will be traveling with me to America.”
“On reaching Delhi, the emigration officials at the airport found ambiguities in our documents and I along with Lovepreet was detained at the airport and a case was registered against me for presenting the forged documents whereas I was unaware of the fraud by the accused Baljit Singh. When we asked him to return the money he threatened me of dire consequences”, added Dilbagh.
A case against Baljit has been registered under Section 24) offences and penalties) of the Emigration Act and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Jhansa police station of Kurukshetra district.
“The accused had tampered with Dilbagh’s passport and placed some other pages inside it and he was caught by the emigration officials at New Delhi airport. Following a case was registered against Dilbagh and now he has given a complaint against Baljit and we will carry forward the investigation as per facts”, said sub-inspector Rajpal, SHO, Jhansa police station.
