Event Sunday to benefit homeless children center


An event Sunday evening will benefit a Christian residential group home for children affected by homelessness, abuse, abandonment and neglect.

The Magic City Collegiate Kick Off will happen from 5 to 8 p.m. at TopGolf Birmingham, 1111 24th St.

Individual tickets are $100 and team tickets start at $750. Both packages include three hours of golf play, buffet, cocktails and access to a silent auction. Other sponsorships are also available.

Children’s Village, Inc., is located in the western section of Birmingham, serving as home to 18 children. Organizers say the home provides guidance, educational and enrichment opportunities, social relationships and participation in community activities.

“Children’s Village relies on government assistance as well as private and public donors to remain operational,” Executive Director Sharon Bolden said. “However, recent government funding decrease threatens the effectiveness of the Village’s operations for the children. Having fundraisers like this one, is crucial in aiding with needs for our children.”
